There is something very special about Stanton Bed and Breakfast, the location is stunning, the bedrooms are beautifully finished, and the owners are incredibly warm, helpful and friendly.

The House

Stanton is a welcoming Georgian farmhouse with many original features and also changes made by successive generations since it was built in 1817. As you approach the front door you will be using the original sandstone entry steps worn concave by 200 years of footfalls from each and every person who has gone before. Our guests enjoy sole use of the drawing room and dining room downstairs, as well as the upstairs tea room, sun room and the Victorian verandahs. We have 3 guest rooms all with the following amenities. You will love the breakfast served each morning in the downstairs dining room. Our emphasis is on the best Tasmanian produce with everything made on the premises, including the granola and preserved fruit. The eggs coming fresh from our free ranging chooks and ducks.

Finch & Cherry:  The Finch and Cherry room is our largest room, decorated in cream and red. It is a corner suite looking out to the front and side verandas. Sleeps 2 with the ability for 2 additional guests on the queen sized pull out sofa. The bathroom is ensuite.

Sparrow & Sage:  The Sparrow and Sage is our spacious middle sized room decorated in sage green and taupe. It is a corner room looking out to the front and side verandas. It has a private

Blue Bird & Berry: The Blue Bird and Berry room is our cosy attic style room decorated in blue and white. It has a view out over the orchards. It has a private bathroom

Whole of house: We love groups! Whether you are traveling together, or meeting at Stanton for a special occasion you and your group are very welcome.  Groups bring a special feeling of togetherness and celebration to the house which brings the house alive and your kids are more than welcome. Stanton is a great stop or base for motorcycling, cycling, boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and car rallying. We have heaps of free off road parking for anything you may be towing. We can provide free undercover lock up parking for your valuable motor cycles and bicycles. We sleep 8 maximum in our 3 bedrooms.

The Farm Shack

The Farm Shack is a small brick outbuilding on our 16 acre historic property. This is a great alternative to camping (only much more comfortable) for a couple or two friends. There is one queen bed with electric blanket. There are fold back glass doors which open to a private grassed area where you can relax under the almond tree around your camp fire. Also lock up bike storage if visiting Maydena Bike Park.

Shared bathroom and self catered using a gas BBQ, campfire and cold box. If you would rather spend money on adventure than luxury stays but still want a cosy bed.

The Property

You are invited to roam the 16 acres of paddocks, orchards and gardens.

Enjoy a picnic and a game of boules in the orchard, a cheese platter and drinks on the verandah, or curl up with a book in front of the fire. There’s lots of choices. We can provide what you need. Just let us know what you would like.

We keep a choice of local beer, wine and cider so you can just add what you take to your honesty tab.

Make friends with our ducks, geese, Little Man, the rooster and his ladies, our pet sheep , Minty, Stuart & Lolly and the star of the show, Coco the donkey.

There are a few thousand bees in a couple of hives towards the back of the property. Take care not to disturb them and they won’t bother you. Wander the orchard (cherries, apples, pears and nectarines mostly) and eat freely whatever is ripe.

We have seen Platypus on the property in the gullies and ponds. They are quite secretive little things and so a sighting is a rare and fleeting treat worthy of celebration.

Similarly, the nocturnal animals such as spotted quolls, wallabies and possums also make themselves scarce when they think you may be looking.

You will see lots of birds around the property. There are many varieties of parrots, beautiful black cockatoos and many varieties of wrens. Let us know what you see. You may surprise wallabies in the early morning or afternoon.

We have no electricity wires over our paddocks so it is perfect for flying model aircraft and kite flying when the wind blows. Our large back dam is also great for remote control boating.

Please be aware that our three dams provide potential danger for small children but are great for older children for frog catching and general mucking around ALWAYS under adult supervision so they don’t get into strife.
